Hi, I'm Nikola.
The longer version - what I do, where I've worked, what I'm into when I'm not in a Screaming Frog crawl.
Meet Nikola
I trained as a journalist at the University of Novi Sad, and that's where my passion for content and research first took root. Writing as a journalist taught me how to dig into a topic, ask the right questions, and turn complicated information into something readers actually want to read.
After graduation, I moved into digital marketing, and from there into SEO. I've spent most of the last seven years in the iGaming niche, growing through every level of the content and SEO craft - from junior writer to team lead to product owner.
But apart from that, I have lots of other interests:
- NBA.My favorite teams are the Denver Nuggets and the Dallas Mavericks. I'll happily debate roster moves with anyone who'll listen.
- Hiking. Whenever time allows, I love getting outside for a long walk in nature.
- Cooking.I picked up the love for cooking from my grandfather when I was young, and I haven't stopped since. My favorite things to make are stews, pasta dishes, and medium-rare grilled steaks.
- Reading.I love both reading and listening to books, mostly non-fiction about history, economy, and politics. I'm currently reading Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order by Ray Dalio. If you have a recommendation for what I should read next, send me a message.
Working experience
I've spent over seven years in SEO and content, almost all of it in iGaming. Here's the path:
SEO Product Owner
- Fully manage 2-3 websites across betting, casino, and sweepstakes casino niches.
- Craft content and SEO strategy for those assets, and directly oversee implementation.
- Conduct regular on-page SEO optimizations, create briefs, and make sure all content meets the highest industry standards.
- Perform regular site audits, identify technical SEO issues, and implement solutions.
- Track KPIs and report directly to the COO and company owners.
SEO & Content Team Lead - US & Australia
- Took charge of the company's top US and Australia assets - drove 121% YoY growth on the Australian asset.
- Led a team of 3 content managers - hiring, onboarding, mentorship, performance management.
- Shaped the company's content strategy across multiple markets, working with senior stakeholders.
- Built editorial guidelines, style guides, and content blueprints used across all sites.
Senior SEO & Content Manager
- Led content strategy on multiple US iGaming assets.
- Did advanced on-page work: keyword mapping, internal link optimization, crawl optimization.
- Worked closely with the off-page team to direct link building toward the highest-business-impact pages.
Independent SEO & Content Manager
- Developed and ran SEO strategies for affiliate iGaming sites across multiple English-speaking markets.
- Performed audits, ran competitor analysis, and managed the company's WordPress and proprietary CMS sites.
- Mentored junior team members on SEO best practices and content production.
Junior Content Manager
- Wrote SEO-optimized iGaming content across UK, US, and Australian markets.
- Conducted keyword research, competitor analysis, and managed daily content publishing.
Before iGaming, I worked in digital marketing in Serbia and trained as a journalist. That writing background is a big part of why I'm drawn to the editorial side of SEO - content quality, structure, and clarity matter to me as much as rankings do.
Education
MBA in International Marketing
EU Business School - a Swiss business school with a campus in Barcelona, where I studied. Graduated summa cum laude with a 3.92/4 GPA. My dissertation was titled "Impact of Generative AI on Content Marketing and SEO Practices" - a deep dive into the field I now work in every day.
Bachelor of Journalism
University of Novi Sad - graduated in the top 5 of my class with a 9.42/10 average. My writing fundamentals come from here; I worked as a journalist for about two years after graduating before pivoting to content marketing and SEO.
